According to Sarah Johnson, a Kwakwala speaker who taught FN languages in School District 72 in the 1980s, Waiatt Bay means "place that has herring." This meaning has been mentioned also by Peter Wilson (see Edge of Discovery) also said it meant: Place that has herring, or "place that has herring spawn." (Source: Jeanette Taylor)
